Professional Fellowship Training

Photo of Dr. Wilson in surgery and Dr. Spaeth and Dr. Henderer.Since 1832, Wills Eye Hospital has had an extraordinary academic and clinical environment with a rich history of training many generations of physicians. Wills pioneered the development of ophthalmology as a separate branch of medicine, and created the nation's first ophthalmology residency program in 1839.

The Glaucoma Service is an important part of this tradition of excellence, attracting future leaders in glaucoma research, teaching, and patient care. Many of our clinical and research fellows have gone on to become Department Chairs around the world, and they form an influential group of colleagues devoted to understanding glaucoma.
